How To Make A Bookmark Card

These instructions can be made using any stamps, any size bookmark and any size card.

I got this idea when I fell in love with this stamp set from Prima Marketing titled "Quotes," but the stamps were too big for the standard A2 size cards that I usually make. So I decided to make a Bookmark Card.

First I chose the patterned paper which was from Pebbles. Then chose the inks (SU!'s Always Artichoke and Delightful Dijon) and stamped the bookmark and colored in a few of the images.

Then I measured and made the card just a little bigger than the bookmark, cut a slit in the top and ran the twine through it. (See picture below.)

The bookmark can be easily moved up or down for perfect placement, yet can be removed so the recipient can have a sweet little gift too!

Since my card was a special size, I needed to make it a custom envelope. Since the pattern is so busy, I placed Avery Labels on the front for the "to" and "from" areas. And since I'm going to give this as a gift for someone else to give away, I used some envelope gum so it could be sealed later on.

Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge 108

This card was made for the Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge #108. The theme is "Fabulous Flowers." They're my favorite thing to stamp!

My supply list for this card is:

SU! Endless Birthday Wishes

Cajun Craze Ink and Card Stock
Pear Pizzaz Ink
Tim Holts Stencil
So Saffron Ink

I also used this card to create my first ever
photo-stitching tutorial. You can see it here
on my blog.

Thanks to everyone over at Stamp, Ink Paper
for a great challenge. And thanks for stopping

When Ink Pads Are Too Juicy...

I love Stampin' Up! products, and their colors are one of the main reasons why. But sometimes I they ink their stamp pads a little too much. This is especially hard when I have a fine detailed image. The ink seems to run together.

Memento Inks are a little better with fine images, but I so often I really want to use my SU! colors.

Well yesterday I found my solution. Ink them with a Ranger Foam Pad first. I had to do this three times before stamping the image just to make sure the ink was evenly dustributed.

It worked perfectly!

I also tried using a Stampin' Spot and lightly inking it, and that worked well too.

I know there must be others who have the same problem, and hopefully this tutorial has helped!

Now I need to get more foam pad refills!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge (& Wednesday too!)

This week we're encouraged to "Get in Shape" over at Simon Says Stamp's Monday Challenge Blog.

After entering this in their Monday Challenge, I hopped over to their Wednesday Challenge and realized the theme was "Seeing Stars!" Wow! So I'll add that in since I just made it today and it fits there too.

I thought about a lot of different things I could make, but decided on making a star-shaped card to highlight my little "hero."

The base of the card is embossed so it looks a little fancy. It's hand-measured and folded with slits in the bottom so someone can write in the card and mail it flat then the recipient can unfold it and stand it up.

It really wasn't to complicated to make. Here's my supply list:

Stampin' Up! Star Dies
White 110# card stock
Patterned paper from coordinations (purchased at Joann's)
Darcie's "Super Day" stamp set
Copics in E37, B24, E13, R14, R29 and Y15

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, and thanks to everyone over at Simon Says Stamp for putting this challenge together!

Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #280

I love the simplicity yet versatility of this challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.

There were so many things I could have done, but I chose this tea cup and pot
from a set I love from Fiskars. (I don't know the official name of the set, but I bought it from Michaels years ago.)

I colored the pot and cup with Copics. And to give the card a little more interest I  cut a base from a Sizzix die and embellished it with white enamel dots from Stampin' Up!

SIP Challenge 91-Andrea's Birthday

The challenge this week over at Stamp, Ink, Papers is to create a birthday card in honor of A design team member's birthday. Easy enough!

I made my card with Close To My Heart's "Lovely Birthday" set. The inks used are:

Memento Bamboo Leaves
Memento Lilac Posies
Stampin' Up! Flirty Flamingo
Stampin' Up! Peakaboo Peach

The card stock is Stampin' Up!'s Old Olive.

What I really love about this card are the clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. Because they're clear, they take on the color behind them. So in this case, it looks like I have three different color sequins when I only have one.

Well I hope Andrea had a great birthday yesterday! And I hope whiever gets this card will like it as much as I do!

Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge #314

What a cute challenge they have over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday this week. The two little tags at the top of the card make for such an interesting card. The extra challenge was to include baby animals, which I did, although they're pretty small.

I used a Hero Arts set called "Spring Hello" by Lia Griffith. Then used a variety of inks from Stampin' Up! and Memento until I found the look I wanted. The ribbon is from Michaels and the embossing folder is from Darice.

Sunday Stamps 148 & Fab Friday 108

Having some leftover die cut and stamped pieces on my craft desk made the choice for this quite easy. It all started over at Fab Friday's Challenge 108 where you had to use the beautiful palette below. I just love the Peakaboo Peach with the Calypso Coral.

The second challenge this card is entered in is over at Sunday Stamps,
where the challenge is to use this sketch on the right.

Putting them bith together I came up with my card. The flowers are from My Favorite Things set called Bold Blossoms. The sentiment is from Reverse Confetti called Easter Blessings. I simply love this set because it contains four great Easter sentiments that can be paired with any Spring stamps you already have.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today!

Fab Friday Challenge 108

I just love this color combo challenge over at Fab Friday 108. What a great combo for the first day of
Spring! I just got this new set of stamps and dies from My Favorite Things called Bold Blooms. When I saw this challenge I knew it would be a perfect fit!

The sentiment is called Wonderful Favorites from Stampin' Up! I've used this set for years. It makes family cards so much more special, as it did for my sister-in-law's birthday this week.

Stampin' Up!'s "Thoughts and Prayers"

I had fun making this card using an oval die to accentuate the tree; then doing some double-stamping to line the trunk up on two colors of paper. It was really easy, and I like the layered look a lot. The dark brown edging is from Stampin' Up's "Finishing Touches."

Sunday Stamps Cottage Colors Challenge

What a fun challenge they have this week over at Sunday Stamps. Their challenge, SSC147, is to use the color palette shown. I pulled out my Stampin' Up! pads and came up with the following colors:

Crumb Cake
Pear Pizzazz
Pool Party
Island Indigo, and
Tangerine Tango

The Stampin' Up! set "Best Birds" has been on my craft desk waiting to be used, so I thought I'd be able to pull off this color combo with this set.

After stamping the images, I did a little coloring with Copics E00, E33 and B00.

The paper is Speckletone True White from paperpapers.com.

There are so many wonderful cards in this challenge, and I love seeing everyone's creativity. Be sure to visit their blog and maybe play along!

Stampin' Up! "So Very Grateful"

Even though I'm not a fan of coloring,  this is one of my very favorite sets. I love the clean lines and how easy it is to make something beautiful with it. Here I used various Copic markers and placed the piece on Stampin' Up!'s Everyday Chic DSP.

Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge #89

Once again I'm so grateful to have a challenge make me pull out a bunch of supplies that I don't often use, and this week is no exception. When I first saw this challenge over at Stamp, Ink, Paper my first thought was a wreath. I really want to buy some of the new spring wreaths many companies have, but for now this older image from Hero Arts will have to do.

My supply list is:

Hero Arts Flower Wreath
Stampin' Up! Cucumber Crush Ink
Tombow Marker Color 173
Tombow Marker Color 793
Tombow Marker Color 743
Sentiment from Michaels (unsure of exact brand)
Banner Die from Technique Tuesday
White Ink & Embossing Powder from Michaels
Pink Patterned Paper from Michaels
Zigzag Side Die "Edgelits Finishing Touches" from SU!

Thanks Justin, and guest designer Sue Plote, and everyone else over at Stamp, Ink Papers for a fun challenge! And thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Try Stampin' on Tuesday Challenge 311

First order of this post is to say "Happy 7th Birthday" to Try Stampin' on Tuesday! And happy anniversary CherylAnn!

Challenge 311 is a sketch challenge, and the bonus was to use check or
gingham, which I love. So after digging through my box of patterened
paper, I came up with not one but two that went into this project.
The first is Red Gingham from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby's brand).
The other grayish gingham is from Pebbles Front Porch.

After that I chose the set "Devoted" by Unity Stamps for the house and sentiment. The colored Copics areBV29, W3, W5, R35 and R20.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, and thanks TSOT for a really fun Challenge!

Retro Rubber "Cross My Heart" Challenge

This card was made especially for Retro Rubber's "Cross My Heart" Challenge (RRCB55).

Anyway, this set is one of my favorites, and I'm glad I was able to create a card containing a heart, even though I didn't have a heart stamp! Here's the supply list: Stampin' Up! Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge #81

When I saw that Stamp, Ink, Paper's Challenge #81 was to create a black and white card with a pop of color in my email box this morning and found my new Stampin' Up! Set in my mailbox this afternoon, I knew It would be a perfect match! The stamp set, Custom Tee, is from the new Sale-A-Bration catalog. The DSP is from Stampin' Up! too. The strip of red patterned paper is from Lawn Fawn. The Memento inks are Tuxedo Black and Love Letter. I made this card for my hubby who, since he has been losing a lot of weight, wears suspenders every day. I think he'll love it on his birthday next week!
